The Philosophy of Water

With our ever-busy diaries getting booked up weeks or months in advance we feel both productive and organised, yet anxious and trapped into our day to day life.

Life can be fast paced and before we know it, anything we needed to sort out wasn’t sorted, because the day ran out.

Tao Te Ching teaches us how we should learn and live the like the “Philosophy of Water” and focuses on 3 main teachings:

coaching outdoors philosophy of water
  1. Humility – It teaches us the ability to learn and transform by listening to others who could provide a new solution you wouldn’t have thought about before.

  2. Harmony – Water flowing towards a rock doesn’t get upset or annoyed by the obstacle, but instead it just flows around it. Water finds a solution to a problem without force or conflict and teaches us to work in harmony with our environment instead of against it.

  3. Openness – Despite ever changing environments, water is open to change, it is adaptable. Instead of putting up a fight against change, be open-minded to it.

In what way would you benefit from slowing down, being more open-minded and free-flowing?

Raymond Tang dissects the “Philosophy of Water” further here:

Come and join us at one of our events where we look at how coaches can use the natural environment to support their work with clients.
